This was easily one of my favorite weddings I’ve photographed all year…..why, you ask? Because the vast majority of it was captured in my favorite place ever; Detroit.

I can’t accurately put into words just how amazing and full of photographic opportunities Detroit really is. For photographers, it’s an urban wonderland. And for Mary & Bobby’s wedding, I got to shoot in some brand new (to me) places. They had an incredible mass ceremony at the unique and contemporary St. Scholastica Parish, and the bride chose this place to be married because she had a priest in her family who did all the mosaics by hand. I was awestruck with the level of artistry this Catholic Church offered, and I’ve truly never seen anything else quite like it.

Following their ceremony, we hopped on a party bus and headed Downtown to do all their portraits! We visited the Detroit Public Library (which was so stunning), The Belt, and even took a couple of them in the middle of busy Woodward Avenue. I loved how adventurous this couples was; there was no idea I tossed out that they weren’t up for! Talk about a dream!

Following their session downtown, we headed to their gorgeous venue; The Westin in Southfield. Their reception space was so perfectly decorated and detailed; nothing was overlooked. Alright, I’ll stop gushing…..check out the images below!
